Obituary: Helen Jean Evans - Brookfield, MO - Linn County Leader
Helen lived in Ottawa, Kan., during her childhood and moved to Platte City, where she graduated from high school. In 1943, she and her family moved to Brookfield. She graduated from Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe. She worked at the Plaza Bank of Commerce, Kansas City, and later at Brownlee-Moore Bank and Fletcher Hardware, both in Brookfield. She then worked for Linn County Division of Family Services as a Children’s Service Worker retiring in June 1991. Following her retirement, she served as a Guardian Ad Litem for Linn County Circuit Court. She was a member of the Permancy Planning Team for Children of Linn County Division of Family Services and the Advisory Board of Stubbins Children and Family Services of Moberly. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Brookfield, where she served as an Elder and was active in Presbyterian Women. She had served on the Board of Brookfield Ministries, American Cancer Society and Linn County Division of the American Heart Association. She was also a member of Athena Club and Hi-Fliers Bridge Club.
