PAYCHEX, INC. : Paychex Announces $100000 Gift to Golisano Children's Hospital

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) recently announced plans to build a new 200,000 square-foot Golisano Children’s Hospital. A key component of the new hospital is 56 private pediatric rooms. Each of those state-of-the-art rooms will cost $100,000 to construct and equip. The first of those will now be built and named in honor of Paychex employees.

“I am proud to announce this gift on behalf of all Paychex employees. Their sense of community, here in Rochester and across the country, is an important part of who we are and what we stand for as a company,” said Paychex president and chief executive officer Martin Mucci. “We are pleased to recognize our chairman’s philanthropic leadership with our contribution. I hope other businesses in our community will join us in showing their support.”

Hospital officials said they are grateful for the leadership Paychex is showing with its gift.

“It should be especially noted that Paychex is among the first local corporations to support our new children’s hospital. Paychex, its employees, and its esteemed founder and chairman, Tom Golisano, have always been very supportive of the children’s hospital, and we are forever grateful,” said Elizabeth R. McAnarney, M.D., former pediatrician-in-chief of Golisano Children’s Hospital and professor and chair emerita of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).

URMC hopes to begin construction of the new $134 million Golisano Children’s Hospital in August 2012, pending state approval. In July, Golisano made a $20 million personal gift to the hospital, which follows his gift of $14 million in 2002.
