Humana names President Oftedahl for the Great Plains region

Humana Inc. has appointed Dan Oftedahl as president of commercial operations and specialized in the area of ​​the company Great Plains.

In this role, Oftedahl oversees strategy and operations for commercial products and specialty Humana in Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Eastern Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota. He is responsible for financial performance and growth of a broad portfolio of products, including medical and specialized services - such as dental, vision, disability, life and benefits to volunteer work.

Oftedahl will be based in the Minneapolis area.

Oftedahl brings more than 18 years of experience in health benefits to his new role with Humana in the Great Plains region. Since 2008, Oftedahl has served as president of Humana's commercial markets in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico and Wyoming.

Prior to joining Humana in Colorado, Oftedahl served as regional vice president of sales for KMG America, a subsidiary of Humana specializing in group and voluntary insurance products. Before joining KMG America, Oftedahl spent several years in management and sales roles with Reliance Standard Life, in Bloomington. He began his career with United HealthCare, based in Minneapolis.

In 2010, the Denver Business Journal named Oftedahl as one of the "40 Under 40" business leaders in Denver. He is also active in several charities, including the First Tee program. He attended high school in Marshall, and has a bachelor of arts degree in management from St. John's University.

Former RPAP student with ACMC receives achievement award

Sarah Eisenschenk was named recipient of the "RPAP Student Achievement Award" for the Rural Physician Associate Program Class of 2010-11. This award is given to an outstanding RPAP student at the completion of the program year. The selection is based on excellence in academic accomplishment as measured by evaluations from preceptors, University and RPAP faculty, as well as noteworthy community involvement. As an RPAP student, Eisenschenk spent nine months of her third year (first clinical year) in a rural area with a rural physician preceptor. These preceptors mentor students in the professional and personal aspects of being a physician.

Assignment Capsule
The Specialty Sales Executive will work closely with staff in the marketplace to achieve specialty sales goals by focusing on new business sales, and retaining current clients to contribute to the profitable growth of Humana Specialty Benefits. Some responsibilities of the position will be the following:

A self starter who can develop strong relationships with brokers and consultants based on shared values and objectives.
Partner closely with the brokerage community to drive new business sales and increase understanding of Humana Speciality Benefits value proposition.
Provide support to a team that is passionate about delivering perfect service to our customers and partners
Identify and communicate to senior management specific market intelligence to help maintain and improve Humana Specialty Benefits position locally and nationally.
