OMV Petrol Ofisi informs in a filing with the Istanbul Stock Exchange that it completed the sale of its 99.89% stake in natural gas marketing subsidiary OMV Gaz ve Enerji Satis to OMV Gaz ve Enerji Holding for a consideration of TRY 53.3mn (EUR 21.4mn) following the approval of the energy market regulatory (EPDK). Please note that the company informed in July that it signed an agreement to sell its 99.89% stake in natural gas marketing subsidiary OMV Gaz ve Enerji Satis to OMV Gaz ve Enerji Holding for a consideration of TRY 53mn. On a separate note, CEO of OMV, Gerhard Roiss, announces that the company targets to launch natural gas cycle power plants in Turkey, as it currently constructs one in Samsun Province which will be completed by 2012. Turkey will be 4th largest natural gas market and 3rd largest electricity market in Europe by 2020, according to Roiss. Roiss also says that Petrol Ofisi's profit margin is not as high as the company expected and OMV decided to apply a new segmentation. OMV agreed in October 2010 to acquire an additional 54% shares in Petrol Ofisi for EUR 1bn to increase its stake to 95.75% from 41.58%. OMV Petrol Ofisi currently supplies fuel from local refiner Tupras and its own Romanian refinery; and OMV is currently in talks with Tupras to determine the share of Tupras and its Romanian refinery in its supply chain, Roiss informs.
Akfen Holding says Boguntu hydroelectric power plant has started commercial operations. Beyobasi Enerji Uretim, which is a subsidiary of Akfen's affiliate AkfenHes Yatirimlari, operates the power plant which has an installed capacity of 3.36MW and annual electricity production of 9.25 GwH. Boguntu is part of a larger Otluca hydroelectricity power plant project with 44.72 MW installed capacity and annual 207.6 GWh generation capacity. Akfen details that total installed capacity and annual electricity production of power plants operated by its subsidiaries reached 115.02 MW and 497.71 GWh, respectively.
