Genetic makeup affects testosterone concentrations in men

The lead author, Professor Claes Ohlsson at the University of Gothenburg said: "This is the first large study to identify specific genes with low serum testosterone.It is very interesting that the genetic contribution of genetic variants to identify concentrations of testosterone is important. "

Co-author Dr Robin Haring, University of Greifswald concludes: "The reported associations can now be used to better understand the functional context of the recently identified disease associations linked to testosterone levels in men."
