Students with an interest in aviation have a new opportunity to transform their passion into a profession. Okanagan College offers an information session for anyone interested in the structural engineer aircraft maintenance engineer (AME-S) on the program Thursday, October 13 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on campus Aerospace Kelowna.

The first class of the new program will begin February 6, 2012 in Kelowna. The 37 weeks full-time program combines classroom training with hands on training takes students through the complexities of inspections and repairs, with a heavy emphasis on manufacturing.

Prospective students can expect to find detailed program information and potential job opportunities in the growing field of aviation. Instructors will also be on hand to answer questions about both the TEA-S program and the program of AME-M.

Kelowna Flightcraft will open its doors to offer prospective students a tour of their operations. With over 900 employees, Flightcraft is an excellent example of industry demand - the local hires dozens of new game mechanics each year.

"We are very pleased with our partnership with Okanagan College," said Grant Stevens, director of human resources of Kelowna Flightcraft. "This allows us to hire locally trained TEA to support our growing operations here in Kelowna and across Canada."

Work Futures reports faster than average employment growth in the industry of TEA-S and higher than the average wage. A recent survey of industry experience revealed Salary AME can earn up to $ 33.29 an hour.

Students who complete the program leave with a certificate and then receive training in the workplace before writing their final exam to receive their license from Transport Canada.

Fay also served as the Deputy Minister of Alberta Government of Alberta's many departments, including Children and Youth Services, Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture, Community Development and Government Services .Before becoming deputy minister, Fay was General Manager of Public Affairs and Communications Director for the Office of the Prime Minister.

Robert Campbell is a former president of the National Board of Directors, Canadian Mental Health Association and the Alberta Branch of the CMHA. He served as president of the Alberta Public Health Association and was awarded an honorary life member.He is the former director of population health for the Chinook Health Region and was an adjunct associate professor in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. Robert has served as Chairman of the Mental Health Chinook Regional Advisory and is currently president of the Community and the Committee on Social Development for the City of Lethbridge and the chairs of the Coalition of Municipalities against Racism and Discrimination under.
